Why small group training can be the sweet spot between group fitness and personal training.
More coaching. More feedback. Still connected to other people.
Some people love the energy of group fitness but want more attention.Others assume the only way to get individualized coaching is to train one-on-one.Small-group coaching exists in the space between those two options. At Fitness Artist, that experience is SHAPE.It gives you the accountability and energy of training around other people while giving the coach more opportunity to understand how you move, what you need, and how you are progressing.
Not everyone needs one-on-one training.
Personal training can be the right fit for someone who needs a private setting, a very high level of individual attention, or a highly specific approach. But that does not mean everyone who wants good coaching needs to train alone. Many people simply want more feedback, more structure, and more individual attention than a larger group typically allows. That is where small-group coaching can make sense.
More individual attention does not have to mean training by yourself.

What changes when the group gets smaller?
A smaller group gives the coach more opportunities to observe.More opportunities to teach.More opportunities to adjust.More opportunities to understand the person behind the exercise. That can mean:
Changing an exercise variation
Adjusting load
Changing range of motion
Modifying volume
Choosing a different progression
Giving more technique feedback
Spending more time understanding what is working and what is not
Everyone can still train together. The coaching simply has more room to become personal.
Shared session. More individualized coaching.
The program should adapt to the person.
Two people can have the same goal and still need different training decisions. One person may be ready to increase load.Another may need a different movement variation.Someone may be working around a previous injury.Someone else may simply need more time to build confidence and skill. In a smaller coaching environment, those differences are easier to recognize and respond to in real time. The goal is not to make everyone do something different just for the sake of individuality. The goal is to make the training make sense for the person doing it.
Coached together. Adapted for you.

Progress should be easier to see.
Progress is not always obvious from one workout to the next. That is why SHAPE places a greater emphasis on tracking.
Strength can improve.
Movement can improve.
Conditioning can improve.
Confidence can improve.
Body composition can change.
Consistency can improve.
Small-group coaching creates more opportunity to pay attention to those changes over time.SHAPE also includes complimentary InBody body-composition scans to provide another layer of information and context.
What gets noticed can be coached. What gets tracked can be discussed.

You still get the benefit of training with people.
One of the advantages of small-group coaching is that more individualized attention does not require isolation. You still have people around you.You still share the work. You still build relationships. You still have accountability. You still get some of the energy that makes group training powerful. But because the group is smaller, there is more room for conversation, feedback, and coaching.
Individual attention without losing connection.
Who may benefit most from small-group coaching?
SHAPE may be a strong fit if you:
Want more individual coaching attention
Have specific strength or fitness goals
Want your progress tracked more closely
Have training history, previous injuries, or movement considerations
Feel uncertain about exercise selection or technique
Like training with other people but prefer a smaller environment
Want more support than a typical group class provides
Do not necessarily need or want traditional one-on-one training
Small-group coaching is not about making training complicated. It is about creating enough space for the coach to pay closer attention.
How is small-group coaching different from group fitness?
Group fitness can provide tremendous energy, community, accountability, and structure. For many people, that is exactly what they need.A smaller coaching group simply allows more time and attention to be directed toward each person.Neither approach is automatically better. They solve different needs. At Fitness Artist:
Is small-group training the same as semi-private training?
The terms are often used in similar ways. Some gyms use “semi-private personal training” to describe a coach working with a small number of people at the same time.At Fitness Artist, we call our experience SHAPE small-group coaching. The name matters less than the coaching model. The important difference is that the group stays small enough for the coach to make more individual decisions, provide more feedback, and follow progress more closely.

The Fitness Artist difference.
SHAPE is not simply a smaller class. The value is not just fewer people in the room. The value is what the coach can do with that smaller environment.Observe more.Communicate more.Adjust more.Understand more.Track more.Coach more personally.
That is what Coached With Purpose means to us.

Want more coaching without training alone?
SHAPE may be the right place to start.Train alongside other people.Get more feedback.Build strength.Track progress.Have a coach who can pay closer attention to what you need.
